Loei
Although the area is located in the North East, the area has much in common with the North of Thailand, with beautiful mountain ranges and hills a plenty to walk and climb. It is the only place in Thailand that occasionally touches zero celsius and has wintry and foggy conditions similar to those in often seen in Europe.
Loei is a province we feel should be seen and experienced, especially if you are a true outdoors adventurer. The Mekong delta is the reason why many people come to the area to witness the wonderful landscape and curious local people who are as interested in you as much as you are in them.
The North East’s or the Issan ancient traditions and customs are still reflected in fairs and festivals, which are found nowhere else in the country, such as the Rocket festival, the candle procession and the wax festival, all totally awesome to see and if you are lucky enough to experience any of these magical events you will not be disappointed.
For those of you looking at venturing into Laos, Loei is a great place to adjust and acclimatize, before exploring a new country.
